I think in these times we are all called to action when an event occurs. Don't get too hung up on if you are a journalist or not. The
University of California at Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism has created a free guide to the applications that can be used to record and transmit news stories and documentary material.
The guide is focused on Apple iOS equipment and applications but it is still worth a look. It is an quick way to review the quality of the apps in a reporting type situation. You can get a glimmer of what to buy and what to stay away from.
The guide is available as an
Adobe PDF, an iBook download or through the iTunes store. The iBook option allows for the reader to view video that is embedded inside of the book to get a look at what the application can do.
I'm going to port this to my Kindle and get to know the software presented.
